Have you ever wondered where to buy some of the country’s cheapest, most affordable property?
This week we take a look at RP Data’s recent release: the most affordable regional suburb for units in Australia. The results are based on median units values as at February 2015 with at least 100 sales over the past year.
1. Manunda, Cairns, Far North, QLD
Median Value: $154,817
Households in Manunda are primarily couples with children and are likely to be repaying between $1,000 and $1,400 per month on mortgage repayments.

2. Mildura, Mildura, Mallee, VIC
Median Value: $157,482
Mildura is located in north-western Victoria on the banks of the Murray River, and is known for its grape production.
3. Cairns North, Cairns, Far North, QLD
Median Value: $235,306
The predominant age group in Cairns North is 25-34 years. Households in Cairns North are likely to be repaying between $1,000 and $1,400 per month on mortgage repayments.
4. Merimbula, Bega Valley, South Eastern, NSW
Median Value: $242,261
In 2006, 59.8 per cent of homes in Merimbula were owner-occupied compared with 57.3 per cent in 2011.

5. Port Douglas, Douglas, Far North, QLD
Median Value: $247,704
Located approximately 70 kilometres north of Cairns, Port Douglas is a popular tourist spot. Households in Port Douglas are likely to be repaying $1,800-$2,400 per month on mortgage repayments.
6. Trinity Beach, Cairns, Far North, QLD
Median Value: $258,892
By 2011, the population of Trinity Beach was 4,740 and 53.6 per cent of Trinity Beach homes were owner-occupied according to Census data.
7. Warrnambool, Warrnambool, Western District, VIC
Median Value: $262,107
In 2006, 65.6 per cent of homes in Warrnambool were owner-occupied compared with 64.0 per cent in 2011 according to Census data.

8. Tuncurry, Great Lakes, Hunter, NSW
Median Value: $269,454
South Grafton is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Sydney and 340 kilometres south of Brisbane. According to 2011 Census data, 60.3 per cent of homes in South Grafton were owner-occupied.
9. Coffs Harbour, Coffs Harbour, Mid-North Coast, NSW
Median Value: $273,614
This coastal suburb is located approximately 540 kilometres north of Sydney. According to Census data, 55.6 per cent of Coffs Harbour homes were owner-occupied in 2011, compared to 56.3 per cent in 2006.
10. Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Mid-North Coast, NSW
Median Value: $295,541
By 2011, the population of Port Macquarie was 41,500. The predominant age group in Port Macquarie is 0-14 years.
